Chavez at it again, cites friendship with Carlos the Jackal.

According to Reuters, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez took center stage at OPEC's meeting in Caracas on Thursday and used the gathering to lambaste Washington and tout his extremist socialist views.

In a wandering 90 minute speech, Chavez showed his bizarre behavior to OPEC and even cited his friendship with the former terrorist for hire, Ilich Ramírez Sánchez, a/k/a Carlos the Jackal.
After several bungled bombings, Sanchez obtained notoriety for a 1975 raid on the OPEC headquarters, resulting in the murders of three people. For many years he was among the most wanted international fugitives. Source: Wikipedia - Carlos the Jackal
The Ramirez family is indeed close to Chavez and his Bolivarian elite socialist party. In May 19, 1999, Time Magazine ran a brief story “Dear Ilich: I Am Fine. How Are You? Sincerely, President….
“Less than a month after taking office, the President mailed a letter to the world’s most infamous incarcerated terrorist, addressing him as “Distinguished Compatriot.” Last week Chavez instructed his Foreign Minister, Jose Vicente Rangel, to meet with the Ramirez family, who say their relative was illegally seized and his human rights are being violated by harsh conditions in prison.”
Chavez latest revelations confirms his friendship to the Ramirez family and puts the icing on the direction he has turned the country of Venezuela.
