The Intifada of France II

The following article, 'The Intifada of France II,' was originally posted by Tom at Love America First

In case you're not aware there's an intifada going on in France right now. Almost two weeks ago the London daily Telegraph reported that

Radical Muslims in France's housing estates are waging an undeclared "intifada" against the police, with violent clashes injuring an average of 14 officers each day.

As the interior ministry said that nearly 2,500 officers had been wounded this year, a police union declared that its members were "in a state of civil war" with Muslims in the most depressed "banlieue" estates which are heavily populated by unemployed youths of north African origin.

It said the situation was so grave that it had asked the government to provide police with armoured cars to protect officers in the estates, which are becoming no-go zones.

Here's the latest from the Telegraph

The French government yesterday held crisis talks with community leaders in an effort to halt mounting violence in suburbs around Paris, amid news that gangs of youths, mainly of North African descent, were intensifying attacks on police.

Dominique de Villepin, the prime minister, ordered his interior and justice ministers to "toughen up" sentences for those found guilty of assaulting officers, following a meeting with community leaders.

His announcement followed a series of violent incidents over the past weeks, culminating in the ambush of three police officers on Friday by youths in Epinay-Sur-Seine, north of Paris.

In case you've forgotten, in October and November of 2005 massive riots broke out in Muslim-populated Paris suburbs. Over 8,900 cars were torched and over 2,800 arrested in 2 weeks of rioting.

This Agence France-Presse story in Expatica has additional alarming information

Another union — Action Police — said in a statement: "It shows that what we are dealing with here is not youths in need of more social aid, but individuals declaring war on the Republic."...

"No-one has drawn the lessons of the 2005 riots. We are not sufficiently trained for urban violence, yet we are often in face-to-face situations," said another officer.

Le Monde newspaper meanwhile published ministry figures that appeared to confirm a growing willingness among young delinquents to choose police and other representatives of public services as targets.

Some 480 incidents of this type were recorded in September — a 30 percent increase on August, Le Monde said. And it quoted interior ministry figures showing that 2,458 police officers were hurt on service in the first six months of the year - compared to 4,246 for the whole of 2005.

"Behind the statistics police specialists detect a harder, better organised type of delinquency. However they are unwilling to draw definitive conclusions about the increase in attacks on police," Le Monde said.

Now I realize there's a big debate as to the nature of these riots, both the ones going on now and the ones last year. Some say that the Muslim youths are acting out of frustration from high unemployment and racism, others say that they are more motivated by jihad.

Call this a cop-out, but I think it's a little of both. There is high unemployment in general throughout Europe, with it being particularly acute in poor communities such as those where the Muslim Algerians live. France brought them, or their parents and grandparents, actually, to France to serve as cheap labor. France did not want to integrate them, but by the same token the Muslims did not wish to be integrated.

So now you have these Muslim "youths", frustrated by their poverty, and as with so many Muslims have bought into the "victim culture". They have bought into the notion that their religion, which they barely understand, is under assault by the West. They've heard about the wonderful Jihad being fought against the "Crusaders" and "Zionists", and wish to join in.

US detects signs North Korea preparing for a 2nd Nuke

(Breitbart.Com) The United States has detected fresh signs that North Korea may be preparing for a second nuclear test, according to U.S. media reports Monday.

U.S spy satellites have detected “suspicious vehicle movements” that could be preparations for another test near the site where North Korea conducted its first underground nuclear explosion test on Oct. 9, ABC News said, quoting unidentified U.S. officials.

NBC News also reported unidentified U.S. officials as saying U.S. spy satellites are picking up signs of truck and people movements.

The news reports came after the United States officially confirmed earlier Monday for the first time that Pyongyang carried out a nuclear test on Oct. 9 in northeastern North Korea, thus also effectively confirming Pyongyang’s possession of nuclear weapons.

Since its announcement Oct. 9 that it “successfully” conducted its first nuclear test, North Korea has repeatedly said it intends to take further “physical” actions against what it calls the “hostile” U.S. stance.

The first one may have been a fizzle, but be careful what you dare.

Jihad Groups in Iraq Take an Oath of Allegiance

On October 12, 2006, Islamist websites posted a video showing six white-clad, masked individuals who, according to the websites, were taking a traditional Arab oath of allegiance known as hilf al-mutayyabin ("oath of the scented ones").(1) The websites claimed that the individuals taking the oath represent four jihad groups in Iraq - the Shura Council of the Jihad Fighters in Iraq; Jaysh Al-Fatihin ("The Army of the Conquerors"); Jund Al-Sahaba ("The Army of the Companions") and Kataib Ansar Al-Tawhid wal-Sunna ("The Monotheism and Sunna Brigades") - as well as "many of the sheikhs of the faithful tribes [in Iraq]." During the ceremony, the participants declared: "We swear by Allah...that we will strive to free the prisoners of their shackles, to end the oppression to which the Sunnis are being subjected by the malicious Shi'ites and by the occupying Crusaders, to assist the oppressed and restore their rights even at the price of our own lives... to make Allah's word supreme in the world, and to restore the glory of Islam..."

To view the video, see Oath of Allegiance to Jihad

On October 15, 2006, Jaysh Al-Fatihin announced that although it would have been happy to take the oath, it was never informed of this initiative. The Shura Council of the Jihad Fighters in Iraq replied, on October 16, 2006, that this announcement must have come from the fifth brigade of Jaysh Al-Fatihin, which, unlike the organization's other four brigades, had not yet pledged allegiance to the Shura Council. The Council expressed its hope that this brigade would join its ranks soon.

The Shura Council of the Jihad Fighters in Iraq Announces the Establishment of an Islamic State

On October 15, 2006, Islamist websites posted a video in which the Shura Council of the Jihad Fighters announced the establishment of an Islamic state in Iraq. The individual who delivers the message, whose face is obscured (see photo, visit Shura Council of Jihad), is identified in the video as "the official spokesman of the Islamic State." He explains that, since the Kurds and the Shi'ites have established de facto states of their own in Iraq, and since the Iraqi government headed by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki has betrayed the Iraqi Sunnis and robbed them of their rights, the jihad groups that have recently taken the "oath of the scented ones"(2) have decided to establish an Islamic state which will incorporate the Iraqi provinces of Baghdad, Al-Anbar, Diyala, Kirkuk, Salah Al-Din, Ninveh, and parts of Babil Province (see map, visit Oath of the Scented Ones).

The announcer adds that the purpose of establishing the Islamic state is twofold: to unite the mujahideen and prevent fitna, and to make the word of Allah supreme in the region. He calls upon the Sunnis around the world to support the newly established Islamic state, and urges the Sunnis in Iraq to pledge allegiance to 'Umar Al-Baghdadi, who is referred to as amir al-muaminin, a title traditionally given to the Muslim Caliphs.

To view the video, see Sunnis in Iraq, Umar al-Baghdadi

Endnotes:
(1) According to classical Islamic sources, hilf al-mutayyabin was an oath of allegiance taken in pre-Islamic times by several clans of the Quraysh tribe, in which they undertook to protect the oppressed and the wronged. The name "oath of the scented ones" apparently derives from the fact that the participants sealed the oath by dipping their hands in perfume and then rubbing them over the Ka'ba. This practice was later adopted by the Prophet Muhammad and incorporated into Islam.

Breaking News: 2nd Warning - Muslims Urged To Leave U.S. - Next Attack Imminent Urgent news from Peshawar.

The head of the Islamabad-based Al-Quds Media Center has received a message from a senior Taliban leader who calls upon all Muslims living in the United States to leave the country as soon as possible “because God’s punishment will fall upon America in the month of Ramadan.”

Jamal Ismail, a senior journalist at Al-Quds, received the call Thursday from Mulla Masoom Afghani. “Afghani said he was speaking from somewhere in the Kandahar province,” Ismail said. “He read the message in Arabic, which I recorded. In it he advised Muslim residents of America to get out to escape harm because the United States could face big attacks in the month of Ramadan.”

This is the second notice for Muslims to leave America. The first was issued to Hamid Mir, the only journalist to interview Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri in the wake of 9/11. Mir received the warning from Abu Dawood, the newly appointed commander of the al Qaeda forces in Afghanistan, who said: Final preparations have been made for the American Hiroshima, a major attack on the U. S. Read More ... WorldNetDaily Article

NYC Students Charged Over Packages On Subway - October 14th, 2006

The dean of a Brooklyn arts college chastised two students who planted packages in the subway for a class project, saying it was like shouting fire in a crowded theater.

Robert Barrett and Jamie Davis, both 21, were arrested earlier this week on charges of placing fake bombs in the mass transit system - a felony punishable by up to seven years in prison.
They said the stunt was part of a class project at the Pratt Institute.

“There’s a difference between challenging paintings and thought-provoking conceptual projects and criminal activity,” Frank O. Lind, dean of Pratt’s School of Art and Design, told The New York Times. “This was shouting fire in a crowded theater.” Read More

Police Had A Second Mole In Terror Plot October 14th, 2006

The Globe and Mail has learned the identity of a second informer who was instrumental in Canada’s most sensational anti-terrorism sweep.

Around the time 18 individuals were arrested on terror-related charges in June, a man vanished from his home in a Toronto suburb.

At first, most of his friends and business partners had no idea why he would leave his home, disappearing with his immediate family. The man, who is in his late 20s, had been going through money problems, as he often had before, but nothing particularly serious. Read More

North Korea Threatens New York, Washington - October 12th, 2006

As reports circulated of a second imminent nuclear test, a high-ranking North Korean official who is called the unofficial spokesman for Kim Jong-il issued a not-so-veiled threat to the United States today in an interview with South Korean radio.

“Everything will be settled in a week,” said Kim Myong-chol on KBS Radio. “That is, whether we, Korean people, will remain as we are now, or lose, or New York will lose, or Washington, D.C., will lose, it will all be settled once and for all.” Read More

Chicago To Have Cameras On Every Corner - October 12th, 2006

Security and terrorism won’t be an issue if Chicago wins the right to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games because, by that time, there’ll be a surveillance camera on every corner, Mayor Daley said Wednesday.

“By the time 2016 [rolls around], we’ll have more cameras than Washington, D.C. … Our technology is more advanced than any other city in the world — even compared to London — dealing with our cameras and the sophistication of cameras and retro-fitting all the cameras downtown in new buildings, doing the CTA cameras,” Daley said. Nightmare scenario: A-bombs for al-Qaeda - October 10th, 2006

The most alarming thing about Kim Jong-il’s new weapons, to many knowledgeable observers, is not the nuclear threat itself. It is the way the world’s major powers might respond to them.
The worst-case scenario goes something like this: Terrified by the nuclear threat next door, the Japanese decide to build their own nuclear arsenal, to the deep alarm of China. The United States beefs up its Pacific bases and begins threatening attacks on North Korean missile sites. In response to this new U.S. presence near its shores, China drastically increases its military strength and begins making overt threats, setting off a chain of military escalation. And North Korea, isolated and desperate after losing its last sources of economic support, sells its nuclear devices to al-Qaeda. Read More

Remember Bosnia - Herzegovina: Fragile stability threatened by Islamisation

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Fragile stability threatened by Islamisation

AUSTRALIA (ANS) -- On Tuesday 10 October at around 4:30am, an unidentified assailant armed allegedly with a "Zolja" hand-held grenade launcher shot a missile into a mosque in the Jasenica area of Mostar, southern Bosnia. Jasenica is a Croat majority suburb of Mostar which is split evenly between Bosnian Muslims and Bosnian Croats. The attack happened before Muslims arrived for a pre-dawn Ramadan meal, so the mosque was empty and there were no injuries. (Link 1)

While the attack may have been perpetrated by a disgruntled voter unsettled by the outcome of the 1 October elections, it is just as likely that the mosque was struck by an Islamist tasked with triggering a sectarian conflict that would enable a "justified" military expansion of Islamist control.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
FRAGILE STABILITY THREATENED BY ISLAMISATION
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The scenario of ethnic-religious polarisation envisaged in my earlier WEA RLC News & Analysis posting – "Bosnia and Herzegovina: Religious tensions rising" (link 2) – is coming to pass. Bosnia's peace is extremely delicate. As ethnic-religious identity, zeal, insecurity and defensiveness rise in the various communities, all religious groups that exist as minorities are likely to suffer increased discrimination and persecution.

Of course Protestants are a minority across all of Bosnia. According to a report by Forum 18 (Link 3), Sarajevo is the only place where Evangelicals have not had difficulties getting building permits. This is probably because America supported the Islamist cause in the Bosnian war (as they did in Kosovo) with devastating effectiveness. So in Sarajevo at least, the Bosniac Islamists who doubtless have the power to turn persecution of Protestants on and off presently want it turned off. How long this will last is questionable, as the US-led War on Terror and the post-war radicalisation of much of the Bosnian Muslim population (particularly youths) makes the US-Bosniac Islamist alliance extremely delicate too. Protestants will probably only be tolerated in Sarajevo as long as the US-Bosniac Islamist alliance holds and the Islamists believe their friends in Washington are still useful with regard to the advance of the Islamist or Muslim nationalist agenda for Bosnia.

Forum 18 reports that in Croat areas, Evangelicals wanting building permits are obstructed, while in the Republika Srpska (Serb Republic), Evangelicals face considerable obstruction and harassment. Of course Serbs generally (and understandably) are suspicious and resentful of Protestants whom they view as pro-American, which to them means pro-Bosniac Islamist and anti-Serb.

FROM DAYTON TO 1 OCT 2006: SEPARATED PEOPLES, COMFORTABLY GROWING APART

Bosnia has three main ethnic groups: Serbs (Eastern Orthodox), Croats (Roman Catholic), and Bosniacs (Muslim). The Dayton Accords, which brought an end to the 1992-1995 Bosnian War, kept the state unified and independent but divided it into two autonomous entities: the Muslim-Croat federation, and the Republika Srpka (Serb Republic). (Full background at link 2)

Since the war, states such as Iran and Saudi Arabia have invested heavily in the Muslim-Croat federation's physical and ideological reconstruction in line with Sarajevo's Islamisation strategy. According to locals, mosques have sprung up in Sarajevo "like mushrooms after the rain". Sources report to Forum 18 that the number of mosques in Sarajevo is now "at 250 or more". (Link 3)

Meanwhile, older and war-damaged mosques have been "renovated" by Arabs with Saudi funds. They ensure the "renovated" mosques conform to Wahhabi standards (stripped of European and Sufi icons and decorations). Wahhabi missionaries have flooded in to teach the nominal Muslims of Bosnia how to be "good Muslims", following the "true way", being more observant, more assertive, less tolerant, wearing veils and growing beards. But by advancing Islamisation, Sarajevo has been increasing the incompatibility of Muslims and Christians and directly threatening the stability brought by the Dayton Accords.

Meanwhile the Republika Srpska has maintained its ethnic and religious distinctives – using Cyrillic rather than Latin script, and building Orthodox Churches rather than mosques – and progressed in rather a different direction. While the Bosniac leadership is developing ties with Islamic states (advancing cultural ties with Iran and an air-traffic agreement with Libya), RS is advancing cultural ties with, and building bridges (literally) to Serbia, much to the chagrin of the Bosniac Islamists and Muslim nationalists who have protested this "conspiracy against Muslims". (Link 4)

RESULT OF 1 OCTOBER 2006 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION CONFLICTED PRESIDENCY REFLECTS CONFLICTED PEOPLE.

Bosnia has a national central government with a three-person rotating presidency. Each entity – the Muslim-Croat federation and the Republika Srpska – also has its own president and parliament. Each ethnic group has a representative in the central presidency. The Serbs must vote for their Serb representative, whilst in the Muslim-Croat federation, Muslims and Croats may vote for a Muslim or a Croat. The leading Muslim and the leading Croat win positions as the representatives of their ethnic group.

Religious tensions have been rising in Bosnia because of the Islamist, Muslim nationalist and Western, US-led push for constitutional reform which would strengthen the central (Muslim dominated) government at the expense of the entities. For Islamists, the US-proposed reforms don't go far enough as they maintain the Republika Srpska (RS) as an entity. For Serbs in RS, the reforms go too far too fast and threaten to undermine Serb autonomy and return the Serbs to dhimmitude. Islamist Bosniacs, driven by Islamist ideology, are keen to dissolve the Republika Srpska. In response, the Serbs have threatened to hold a referendum on secession rather than live as a Christian minority under Muslim domination. The constitutional reforms and the status of Republika Srpska were central election issues.

The winners of the national presidential election are polar opposites, creating a conflicted presidency which reflects a conflicted people. The new federal parliament does likewise.

The Muslim representative in the new Bosnian presidency is Haris Silajdzic who was the war-time Foreign Minister and Prime Minister under Islamist President Izetbegovic. Silajdzic campaigned as an advocate of the dissolution of Republika Srpksa (RS) (as quoted in "Bosnia and Herzegovina: Religious tensions rising" WEA RLC: link 2).

The Serb representative is Nebojsa Radmanovic of the pro-West "Union of Independent Social Democrats", the party of Bosnian Serb Prime Minister Milorad Dodik who has vowed to hold a referendum on secession if the Muslims press for the dissolution of RS. A Serb referendum on secession is something the Bosniac Islamists have vowed to resist.

As if this does not create enough tension, the Croat representative to the three-person rotating presidency is allegedly not the Croat choice. (Link 5)

The current Croat President, Ivo Miro Jovic, is believed to be the real Croat choice. However, he came in second behind Zeljko Komsic, a Croat who fought with the Bosnian Muslim army against the Bosnian Croat army in 1993 when Bosnian Croats tried to secede from Izetbegovic's independent unified state of Bosnia. Komsic, like Silajdzic, ran on the platform of a unified "anti-sectarian" Bosnia. Croats (who are about a 14 percent minority) believe Komsic was elected with Muslim votes and will not represent Croat interests. This, along with growing Croat discomfort in the increasingly Islamised Muslim-Croat federation, has re-ignited Croat calls for a third autonomous ethnic entity to carved out in Bosnia.

The Roman Catholic Croats and the Muslim Bosniacs were both allied to the Nazis during World War Two, joining SS Units tasked with exterminating the "lesser races" – Serbs, Jews and Roma – in the Holocaust in Yugoslavia. After WWII both groups were allied to the Communist Partisians led by Tito (a Croat) against the pro-democracy, pro-West Serbs.

However, the post-WWII radicalisation of Bosnia's Muslims, from the 1970s, but especially through and since the 1992-1995 Bosnian War, has caused this alliance to become strained over recent years. Many Croats may now feel they have more in common with their Serb former enemies than their Bosniac former allies. A little over a year ago, Croats in the northeastern Bosnian town of Brcko were forced to appeal to local authorities for protection after they were threatened by an extremist Islamic group from the nearby village of Gornja Maoca. Wahhabi leaders in Gornja Maoca had been calling Catholic Croats "the worst kind of crusaders" and saying they should all be exterminated. (Link 6)

So the 1 October elections have not only polarised the Bosniac and Serb populations (between unity and autonomy), but also deeply unsettled the Croats. The majority Bosnian Muslims have voted for non-sectarian unity and democracy. It sounds heavenly except that Islamists, modern nominal or liberal or secular pro-European Muslims, and non-Muslim minorities all interpret that quite differently (as Islamic domination, European-style equality, and repressive dhimmitude respectively).

Meanwhile non-Muslim minorities who recoil at the idea of living as dhimmis under Islamic domination are labeled obstructionist, divisive, sectarian and racist. (Link 7)

DAYTON'S STABILISATION SERIOUSLY THREATENED

We truly are drifting right back into the pre-Dayton and pre-war Bosnia of 1992. And just as in 1992, if Bosnia's Muslim nationalists and Islamists attempt to turn their rhetoric into reality and impose Muslim rule over the Bosnian Serb minority, the Serbs will not submit – they will resist. Then the Islamists will cry foul and deploy their ready Army and jihadist forces to an aggressive, offensive "defence" of Bosnia against Serb "aggression" (resistance) and under the banner of "justice". It is all very familiar.

Today, with modern political and religious understanding and post-9/11 knowledge (the links between Bosniac Islamists and 9/11 are now well documented: link 8), the West surely cannot support the Islamist agenda to Islamise all of Bosnia and place Bosnian Christians (Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant) in a state of "democratic" dhimmitude.

Peace, religious liberty and security for all Bosnians of all confessions and traditions can only be achieved by means of a lengthy and patient national and international truth and reconciliation process (something the US would doubtless resist), along with the total rejection and absolute abandonment of all Islamist rhetoric, politics and goals (something the Islamists would certainly reject). Without those two things, this conflicted, forced, sham marriage that is post-Dayton Bosnia, cannot last, and lasting peace and true religious liberty will never be the reality.

Navy SEAL Saves Comrades By Falling on Grenade

A Navy SEAL sacrificed his life to save his comrades by throwing himself on top of a grenade Iraqi insurgents tossed into their sniper hideout, fellow members of the elite force said.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael A. Monsoor had been near the only door to the rooftop structure Sept. 29 when the grenade hit him in the chest and bounced to the floor, said four SEALs who spoke to The Associated Press this week on condition of anonymity because their work requires their identities to remain secret.

“He never took his eye off the grenade, his only movement was down toward it,” said a 28-year-old lieutenant who sustained shrapnel wounds to both legs that day. “He undoubtedly saved mine and the other SEALs’ lives, and we owe him.”

Monsoor, a 25-year-old gunner, was killed in the explosion in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. He was only the second SEAL to die in Iraq since the war began.

Two SEALs next to Monsoor were injured; another who was 10 to 15 feet from the blast was unhurt. The four had been working with Iraqi soldiers providing sniper security while U.S. and Iraqi forces conducted missions in the area.

Rick Moran has an excellent post up honoring this heroe.
We will never know what went through Michael Monsoor’s mind as he leapt upon that grenade. My own belief (and hope) is that Michael’s final moments seemed to him to last a lifetime, the seconds slowing to a crawl to give him the chance to reflect on how lucky he had been to have so many to speak so highly of him after he was gone, to mourn for those who would feel the pain of his loss. And I have no doubt he would have had a colorful curse or two for the enemy that had defeated him in life but that he was cheating with his own heroic death.

Take a moment today to appreciate this man’s devotion and love for our Country and the selfless sacrifice he made to save the lives of his fellow soldiers. Remember his family as they mourn and honor this fallen hero. There is no greater love than to lay down your life for your fellow man.

Gribbit has more as well.
I can only think of one other individual who has done this in recent memory. Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham covered a grenade with his Kevlar becoming mortally wounded in the successful attempt to save the lives of others in his squad. Dunham has been nominated for the Medal of Honor and so should Monsoor.

A 28-year-old California man has been indicted on federal charges of treason and providing material support to a terrorist group for making a series of propaganda videotapes for al Qaeda, including one in which he praised the hijackers involved in the 9/11 attacks and referred to the U.S. as "enemy soil."

The charges filed in the Central District of California say Adam Gadahn, also known as Azzam the American, "gave al Qaeda aid and comfort … with intent to betray the United States." Gadahn is the first person to be charged with treason against the U.S. since the World War II era.

The FBI added Gadahn to the Most Wanted Terrorists list and the U.S. Department of State is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to Gadahn's arrest.

"Adam Gadahn represents a new breed of home-grown extremist, who has chosen to betray the country of his birth," FBI Executive Assistant Director Willie Hulon said during a press conference Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

Adam Gadahn appears on a 2004 videotape as Azzam the American

Gadahn appears in a videotape broadcast in 2004 in which he identifies himself as Azzam the American. Read more about it and watch the video clip.

Gadahn, a former resident of Orange County, appeared in a series of videotaped segments that were broadcast between October 2004 and September 11, 2006. In the first tape, Gadahn is wearing black sunglasses and a headdress wrapped around his face. He identified himself as Azzam the American and announced his relationship with al Qaeda. "The streets of America shall run red with blood," Gadahn said on the 2004 broadcast.

In a broadcast in 2005, around the fourth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Gadahn called the attacks "blessed raids" and discussed the "jihad against America." Earlier this summer, Gadahn appeared in a videotape that also contained statements from al Qaeda leaders Usama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri. More recent propaganda broadcasts aired Sept. 2 and on the fifth anniversary of 9/11.

Gadahn was among seven individuals singled out in 2004 by Director Robert Mueller and the Attorney General as posing a danger to U.S. interests around the world. As a result, Gadahn was added to the FBI's Seeking Information list "in connection with possible terrorist threats against the United States."

Executive Assistant Director Hulon said Gadahn's indictment for treason and material support for terrorism prompted his elevation to the Most Wanted Terrorists list. "Gadahn is considered a high value target, which puts him high on the FBI's radar screen," Hulon said. "This intense exposure limits Gadahn's operational ability, but he still poses a different kind of threat as a communicator for al-Qaeda."

Gadahn, who is believed to be overseas, is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 210 pounds. He has brown hair, hazel eyes, and scars on his chest and right forearm. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Apparently, Democratic People's Republic of (North) Korea (DPRK) tested their first NUKE. I hope the appeasers and apologists are now happy. So, what is the pathetic international community going to do now? Are they going to have a hand wringing party and do nothing more? The problem has been festering for 30 years. So, it should come to any surprise.

North Korea said it would conduct a nuclear test as part of measures to bolster its self-defense amid what it calls increasing US hostility toward the communist regime. They did it. Looks like Pyongyang does what it says it will do.

So, now we have a lunatic with nuclear weapons and is developing a delivery program to launch them. And, the corrupt criminal government of DPRK will be able to export the technology to any third rate dictator without so much as batting an eye.

Delivery systems that DPRK has are the Taep'o-dong 1 and Taep'o-dong 2 Missile Programs

On July 4, 2006, DPRK attempted to fire a long-range Taep’o-dong 2 ballistic missile but it failed after about 40 seconds in flight. The development of the Taep’o-dong 2 is estimated to have begun in 1990, at the same time as another missile, Taep’o-dong 1, was launched.

The medium - range Scud -style missiles were Taep’o-dong 1 (Daep’o-dong 1, Nodong 2, Scud X, Scud Mod. E, Rodong 2) is a medium-range, liquid and solid propellant, single warhead ballistic missile. The Taep'o-Dong 1 is said to be capable of carrying a nuclear warhead to a maximum range of 2,000 km (1,243 miles). The "Nodong" missile delivery systems that are operational are capable of covering South Korea and most of Japan, and our American military forces stationed in those countries.

The test firing of DPRK's Taep'o-dong 2 in July 2006 was not unsuccessful. However, DPRK successfully fire several Taep'o-dong 1 missiles which landed in the Sea of Japan. The Taep'o-dong 1 tests were downplayed by the mainstream media as simply "scud type missiles" because the mainstream media does not want to print factual and truthful information.

    Historical data

DPRK successfully test launched the Taep'o-dong 1 in 1998. From January 1993 - January 2001, North Korea steadily developed its “Nodong” missile delivery programs and apparently worked on its nuclear program. The Clintonista administration, Madeline Albright, and other appeasers and apologists in the world community drank tea with Kim Jong-il as he manipulated the world community on his weapons programs. Pakistan and Iran have jointly worked with DPRK on their Taep'o-dong missile systems. As a matter of fact, the Iranian Shahab-5/Shahab 6 is similar in technology and in design to the Taep'o-dong 2. (Source: Missile Threat.Com)

The Liberalistas should keep trying to down play DPRK's aspirations and their relationships with countries such as Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, and every radical regime that is out there. There is much more that meets the eye on this problem.

    30 Years of miscalculations

For the past 30 years, as the international community idly sat by wringing its hand, DPRK has pursed the development of their ever expanding ballistic missile program and apparently their nuclear weapons program. Mismanagement and miscalculation has occurred on every American Presidents' watch for probably the past 30 years. DPRK has devoted itself to developing weapons and delivery systems under the noses of the world community. Now DPRK is going to test their nuclear weapon? What next? Are they going to collude with their "partners" to hold the free world hostage?

NK testing of Nuke not confirmed

-- A South Korean government official says North Korea appears to have
conducted a nuclear test, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reports. (BN: CNN)

Could this be a bluff? There is zero radiation magnified or sufficient to leave a mark. The Asian markets are plummeting. Everyone should just take a deep breath until more is confirmed.

I just heard on KFI news (9pm PCT) that there is an indication of seismic activity.

It has been confirmed by the USGS that some 'activity' caused a 4.2 magnitude earthquake type reaction.

    Iraqi Troop Poisoning

Courtesy of Stop the ACLU, Posted by by Jay on 10-08-06 @ 8:55 pm Filed at Stop the ACLU under War On Terror, News

Via Yahoo ... Associated Press (AP)

Hundreds of Iraqi policemen fell sick from poisoning Sunday at a base in southern Iraq after the evening meal breaking their daily Ramadan fast, and officials said they were investigating whether the poisoning was intentional.

An official with the Environment Ministry said 11 policemen had died. However, the governor of Wasit province — where the poisoning took place — denied any deaths, though he said some of the victims were in critical condition. There was no immediate explanation for the contradictory reports.

Some of the policemen began bleeding from the ears and nose after the meal, said Jassim al-Atwan, an inspector for the Environment Ministry, who was serving as a liaison in the investigation between the Health Ministry and the base, located in the town of Numaniyah.

“Hundreds of soldiers were poisoned after taking food and water in the iftar,” Wasit Gov. Hamad al-Latif told the Associated Press, referring to the meal that breaks the sunrise-to-sunset fast during the Islamic holy month. “Investigations are under way to determine the cause.”

Samples of the food and water were being tested “to determine the substance in them” and will be sent to Baghdad for further tests, al-Latif said.

Sunni insurgents who have targeted police and military forces with bombings and shootings have not been known to use poisoning as a weapon. But the suddenness and severity of the sickness raised speculation that the incident could be a new attack. The division is mainly made up of Shiites.

Between 600-700 policemen were affected to varying degrees, and 11 who had the heaviest amount of the food had died, al-Atwan told The Associated Press.

Some of the soldiers collapsed as soon as they stood up from them meal, others fell “one after the other” as they headed out to the yard in the base to line up in formation, al-Atwan said.

Iraqi ambulances and helicopters sent by the U.S. military rushed the policemen to hospitals in Numaniyah and the nearby city of Kut.

Wow! This doesn’t sound like a typical food poisoning. It sounds to me a like a new tactic, one we should keep our eyes open about ourselves. This is scary stuff! Maybe we should use our captured terrorist as food testers?

    US Ponders to Split Iraq

Courtesy of Big Dog's Weblog, Originally posted by Big Dog on his weblog.

    The Trisection Of Iraq

    by Big Dog

Who would have thought it would be a pleasure to actually discuss Iraq again. I had been suffering Iraq fatigue because they discuss it all the time and now that an election is upon us there are millions more trying to jam Iraq all over to show it as a failure. Everyone knows my opinion about that (if you don’t, I think it is going OK but not as good as it could; not as well as the right says and not as badly as the left says) but after a week of Mark Foley and all the sleaze and dirt surrounding his sexcapades, I am glad to get back to Iraq.

There has been a great deal of sectarian violence in that country. People can say that the US caused it but is has existed for a long time. It has gotten worse now that Saddam is not able to quash people from other sects. There are reports from people trying to paint this as worse than it is that they are in a civil war over there. I don’t think they are but I think they are on the verge. Right now they have violence directed at different groups. If they get into a sustained conflict, then they will be in a civil war. People need to understand that a civil war could be the natural progression of things. There was a civil war in this country before we got on track. We will probably never have another civil war but I would not rule out a new revolution especially if our government does not get its act together.

Today there is news of a plan to divide Iraq into three areas. The Iraq Study Group, chaired by former Secretary of State James Baker is going to have recommendations on this after the mid-term elections.

"The Baker commission has grown increasingly interested in the idea of splitting the Shi’ite, Sunni and Kurdish regions of Iraq as the only alternative to what Baker calls “cutting and running” or “staying the course”. Times Online"

This has merit in that the Kurds have an area so all that would have to be done is divide the other two. They basically live apart so it would probably be a matter of dividing land. In that part of the world it could take years for them to agree but in the end it might actually bring more stability to the country. What we need to be weary of though, is dividing the country into three sections that act like independent countries. We have seen this in Korea and Germany. The countries isolate themselves and become separate entities. I think for Iraq to work effectively, they need to have these areas set up like the states within the US. Each would have its own governing body and each would elect a certain number of people to the governing body of the country. This would allow each sect to have representation in Iraq. The problem might be in getting the politicians to get along but I think in time that would work out.

There is no guarantee that the tribes would not invade the area assigned to another. That part of the world is good for invading and taking land. They are particularly good at making deals and then going back on their word. Given that it is not unreasonable to expect them to fight over the agreement of some portion of it that was violated. This could trigger the civil war that has been feared but it is an option that might offer the best hope for a peaceful solution that everyone can agree on. I am anxious to see this presented in its entirety so we can get a better grasp of what is being proposed. I will also be interested in seeing how the Iraqis react to such a plan.

Bosun's Opinion: I have thought long and hard about this concept before the Baker Commission came out within. Unfortunately, Turkey and Iran oppose the Kurds from having their own self rule.

Kurds in Turkey and Iran are at war with the respective governments (or it may be the other way around depending on who is telling the story.)

Judging by news from the region, the Kurds of Northern Iraq have enjoyed a relatively peaceful existence with limited terror activities since the US led invasion of Iraq. It is difficult for subversives to move about undetected in Northern Iraq. Therefore, the Kurds have better control over their region than the rest of Iraq.

I don’t know if a trisection of Iraq is doable or not. Big Dog correctly pointed out risk that each tribe may end up invading the other.

In saying that, I believe the Kurds would behave themselves. The Kurds have to walk a tightrope with Turkey and Iran.

Unfortunately, if the commission does split Iraq, the Kurds will be landlocked, along, with the Sunni Triangle.

The Shia dominated south will control the gulf coast and have control of the shipping port. It appears to me that that the Shia will end up embracing their cousins, the Iranians if they are left to their own design.

    United States Democrats

When the Democrats eventually take over our government, I think the first thing that the Dems will do is “cut and run” from the region and abandon Israel.

Cut and Run will leave Iraq to its own devices which will cause the civil war the Dems keep harping about. The Dems suffer from two mental illness disorders “Vietnam-itis” and “Bush Derangement Syndrome.” Both mental disorders cause intense paranoia, blame others, and extreme externalization.

The mental disorders ( “Vietnam-itis” and “Bush Derangement Syndrome”) tends to cause the average Democrat to scream like a banchee and loose any sense of morality, common sense, or dignity. If and when the Dems take control of our government, they will be to busy trying to tear down anything that could be conceived as President Bush’s legacy. Washington DC will look like the fall of Baghdad, if and when the Democrats regain control. If there was a bust or statue of President Bush, the Dems would pull it down and it hit it with their sandals and slippers.

So. if the Baker Commission recommendations are enacted during President Bush’s administration, perhaps, just perhaps, there will be a more oganized triangulation of Iraq and the Kurds will be able to pull it off securing the norther oil fields.

    Shia in the South

As stated earlier, I have a bad feeling that the Shia in the South will embrace Iran. The Sunnis will pay a very dear price for embracing al-Qaeda and revolution. The Kurds and Shia will not be forgiving.

The even worst thing is that Al-Qaeda will be out looking for another country to tear apart. You see the Arab Street and al-Qaeda understand that was not secular violence, but, al-Qaeda who split Iraq (using Dem talking points and violence.)

Jordan, Egypt, and other moderate neighbors will be put on notice. I suspect that the House of Saud will fall victim of Middle East instability.

    Iranian connection

President “A-man-named-jihad” of Iran will believe he is the 12th Imam and his perception of the Caliphate will gain traction. I am sure that Europe will become a battle ground for Islamization.

    The SNAFU Generation

When all this takes place, the liberals will wonder what the heck has happened. John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, Jack Murtha, Teddy Kennedy and all the other donk lefti who helped al-Qaeda develop the confidence that America would loose its will to fight (like America did in Viet Nam, Lebanon, and Somalia) should feel proud of their contributions to the sinking world.

It did not start with Bush

The Middle East instablity is not President Bush’s fault. The conflict started with the rise of radicalized Islam in about 600 AD. The Islamists envisioned an Islamic Caliphate starting in Europe and stretching throughout Africa and west Asia. Spain once fell under radicalized Islam's bloody sword. History has a way of repeating itself. The current situation looks bleak no matter which way the desert sand blows.

    Did Russia aid Hezbolla?

This morning I received an unsubstantiated report courtesy of a Newsmax.Com email alert that insinuated Russia may have aided Hezbollah against Israel.  This does bring up an interesting concept that will require careful study and research

DISCLAIMER: The different points of views NewsMax are not supported nor do they reflect the views and beliefs of the Bosun Locker or any entity affiliated with the Bosun Locker.

On Oct. 3, more than 500 Russian military engineers arrived in Lebanon — the first time that Russian forces have openly deployed in the Middle East.

The Russian forces are ostensibly tasked with rebuilding bridges destroyed by Israel during the recent hostilities with Hezbollah.

But they will be protected by commando platoons from two battalions led by Muslim officers — one of whom has been identified by a Russian news service as a “former rebel commander” in Chechnya — and they include a number of other former Chechen rebels.

Jerusalem Post columnist Caroline Glick sees the move as part of Russia’s increasingly anti-Israel policy, and has ominous forebodings about Russian plans in the Middle East.

“The Russian bear has awakened after 15 years of hibernation,” she writes. “The clouds of the coming war are converging upon Israel. But our political and military leaders refuse to look up at the darkening sky.”

Glick cited a new report exposing Russia’s intelligence support for Hezbollah during its war with Israel.

According to Jane’s Defense Weekly, a Russian listening post on the Syrian side of the Golan Heights gave Hezbollah a continuous supply of intelligence — and that intelligence caused significant damage to Israeli operations, according to Glick.

“It appears that Russia’s support for Hezbollah may well have been as significant as Syria’s support for the terror organization,” she writes. “And now we have Chechens in Lebanon.”

Glick says recent bellicose speeches by Syrian President Bashar Assad indicate that Damascus feels Russia will support Syria if it goes to war against Israel.

The columnist also points to Russia’s continuing support for Iran’s nuclear weapons program, highlighted by statements from Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a recent visit to Tehran, that Russia opposes all international sanctions against Iran.

Glick concludes: “Any objective observer of the developments in our region understands that the storm of war is rapidly approaching us. With Moscow’s blessing, the Palestinians, Hezbollah, Syria, and Iran are steadfastly preparing for battle.”

Haaretz.com also ran an article regarding Iran and Syrian support of Hezbollah and commented that,

According to the Jane's report, in its agreement of intelligence cooperation with Syria, Iran insisted that no Russian intelligence officers should be allowed access to the new listening posts, in spite the long standing deal between Damascus and Moscow.  Source:

Al Qaeda's New Generation Unknown To U.S. Intelligence

The new generation of Al Qaeda remains secret and unknown to international intelligence services, an Al Qaeda website last week reported. Islamic writer Uways Bradley wrote Sept. 22 on a Global Islamic Media Front website that Al Qaeda was expanding worldwide and has not been diminished by U.S.-led counterterrorism efforts.

“Al Qaeda is here to stay,” he said, noting that many members of the first generation Al Qaeda are known to “Crusaders” and their followers. However, the next generation of Al Qaeda is still secret. Read More

Seizures Of Radioactive Materials Fuel Dirty Bomb Fears

Seizures of smuggled radioactive material capable of making a terrorist “dirty bomb” have doubled in the past four years, according to official figures seen by The Times.
Smugglers have been caught trying to traffic dangerous radioactive material more than 300 times since 2002, statistics from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) show. Most of the incidents are understood to have occurred in Europe.

The disclosures come as al-Qaeda is known to be intensifying its efforts to obtain a radioactive device. Last year, Western security services, including MI5 and MI6, thwarted 16 attempts to smuggle plutonium or uranium. On two occasions small quantities of highly enriched uranium were reported missing. All were feared to have been destined for terror groups. Read More

North Korea to conduct nuclear test

UK Times online: North Korea has said it would conduct a nuclear test as part of measures to bolster its self-defence amid what it calls increasing US hostility toward the communist regime.

"The DPRK will in the future conduct a nuclear test under the condition where safety is firmly guaranteed," the North's Foreign Ministry said in a statement, using its official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The statement gave no precise date as to when a test might occur. Pyongyang has said it has nuclear weapons, but has not conducted any known test to prove its claim.
